At the Sierra Club, our mission to enjoy, explore, and protect the natural and threatened places in Florida. To achieve this mission, each of our local groups organizes and leads community outings to connect participants with the natural world around them.
We are recruiting motivated volunteers to help us organize and lead outings through the Sierra Club.
Outing leaders:
- Organize and lead hikes, paddles, and service projects across the state
- Bring people together to explore nature and mobilize communities around conservation issues
- Explore Florida’s wild places
- Learn how to organize and lead community events to support the Sierra Club's conservation efforts!
Requirements:
- The volunteer experience is open to anyone, with no previous guiding experience required, as we provide training, community, and ongoing support.
Why become an outing leader?
- It’s a flexible way to obtain volunteer service hours, as volunteers are given the flexibility to design their outings based around their own unique schedules.
- Outings can be geared towards student's individual interests, i.e. environmental education and youth development, highlighting local policies, or citizen science and research outings. As long as they’re motivated to organize it, we can help them do it!
- Gain a rewarding experience by helping to make nature accessible, inclusive, and fun!
