Who We Are

The Office of Management and Budget (OMB) of Miami-Dade County includes a Grants Coordination Division. This division secures annually federal grants to advance a wide variety of county needs, such as HIV/AIDS, crime prevention and intervention, drug prevention and intervention, and other issues. Within these grant projects, university and college students may secure various service learning opportunities, such as volunteering, research and paid internships.

What We Do

The Office of Management and Budget (OMB) of Miami-Dade County develops and implements the County's operating and capital budget to ensure financial resources, department operations and staffing levels are aligned to achieve results driven by policy and customer needs. This promotes a results-oriented government by linking funding recommendations with priorities outlined in the Strategic Plan and departmental business plans.

OMB updates annually the County's Five-Year Financial Plan and manages the Building Better Communities General Obligation Bond (BBC-GOB), Quality Neighborhoods Improvement (QNIP) and Safe Neighborhood Parks (SNP) Bond Programs.

OMB administers the Tax Increment Financing (TIF) Program; reviews activities of all Community Redevelopment Agencies (CRAs); supports Unincorporated Municipal Service Area (UMSA) CRAs; and provides analysis and support of incorporation and annexation efforts, and policy recommendations for future municipal boundary decisions in Miami-Dade County.

OMB also manages grant programs and administers Community-Based Organization (CBO) contracts, including the Mom and Pop Small Business Grant Program, to ensure compliance.
