Musicians On Call brings live and recorded music to the bedside of patients in healthcare facilities.
What We Do
VOLUNTEER MUSICIANS
Musicians perform at the bedsides of patients in hospitals and are always accompanied by a trained MOC Volunteer Guide. Musicians play one song per room and interact with patients, their families and hospital staff. Song choices can be covers or original music, but MUST be appropriate for a hospital setting. Guidelines for song choices will be provided during training. Volunteer musicians can visit any of MOC’s facilities. We ask all Volunteer Musicians commit to volunteering once a month.
VOLUNTEER GUIDES
Guides escort musicians bed to bed as they play music for patients. Guides interact with patients to see if they feel like hearing music. They also introduce the musicians prior to their performances and guide them through the facility. Each guide is assigned to a specific healthcare facility. Each medical facility may require its own orientation class and TB test. Guides may be asked to submit his or her shot record to the facility where they will be volunteering. In addition, MOC training involves trailing an experienced guide at least twice. We ask all Volunteer Guides commit to volunteer once a month.
