Who We Are

The Arc of South Florida is a local chapter of The Arc, one of the largest volunteer organizations in the U.S. Founded in 1953 by a group of concerned parents. The Arc of South Florida serves the over 1000 Miami-Dade County citizens with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Though still governed by volunteers through the Board of Directors the Arc of South Florida has grown into a major community agency, providing a variety of programs and services that affect hundreds of participants, their families and the community each and every day.

What We Do

Volunteering: -Children's Program -Events (5 throughout the year) -Development -Grant Writing Internship: - Case Work Intern This internship position is designed to provide case work support to the organization. The intern will learn the various duties involved in case management and required documentation. They will also develop skills to work with clients, guardians and the Agency for Person with Disabilities. The interns will also work in association with case workers, psychological staff and community volunteers on a routine basis. - Therapist Intern The Therapist internships are to provide a unique experience for students and young professionals to observe and assist with the therapy programs at The Arc of South Florida. This is a volunteer (unpaid) position. Specific duties of therapist internships include: evaluating program participants; interpreting evaluation findings to determining the nature of dysfunction; establishing goals; providing advice and education to program participants; attending meetings and performing other tasks assigned by the program coordinator. - Non-Profit Management Intern The Non-Profit Management Internship is designed for a student with experience in business administration and an interest in non profits. This intern would work directly with the Development Director; Volunteer Coordinator, Associate Director and Finance Director. As a management intern, this person will assist in various areas of non-profit management and learn the different responsibilities of these functions. The Non-Profit Internship position is an excellent opportunity to learn how a growing non-profit organization functions and gain valuable experience in aspects of policy and management operations. Strong research, analytical, and computer skills are desired
