Close Up Foundation

Close Up believes that a strong, vibrant democracy requires informed participation from all citizens. However, in order to achieve what the American Academy of Arts and Sciences calls “participatory readiness” students need to practice the skills and competencies of active and engaged citizenship. Close Up meets this goal by conducting academic, hands-on, civic education programs, which develop students’ democratic attitudes, promote citizenship skills, and increase their civic knowledge. Close Up is the spark for a lifetime of active citizenship. After participating in the program, students return home energized with the skills and predilection to improve their communities and strengthen our democracy.
